Ash Natural wide plank flooring provides a crisp light hue that is perfect for simplistic designs.
Although similar to white oak or hickory, ash has a slight yellow hue. The sapwood is a light, creamy color, while the heartwood ranges from light tan to deep brown. The grain pattern of ash is bold and straight, with occasional waves. The classic cathedral grain in plain sawn boards is evidence of the growth ring after the board is sawn.
This light colored wood offers above-average durability and dimensional stability. When investing in a wood it makes sense to seek out a durable one, as this can determine how the wood weathers throughout temperature changes and overtime. Ash is the most common wood species used in MLB-regulation baseball bats—which means it can take on a 99 mile-per-hour fastball!
