About Hickory New England Walnut Flooring
Hickory New England Walnut amplifies the natural colors of hickory wood. Compared to natural hickory, this style carries browns and cream colors that are saturated and warm. This species in particular is known for its variation and distinctive character markings—the sapwood and the heartwood of the tree vary from a light, almost tan color, to a deep brown, leaving a rich, desirable contrast.
Although hailed for its natural beauty, hickory is also dense and durable. This species Janka hardness rating is 1820, making it 41% harder than Northern red oak. Hickory’s toughness makes for a reliable option and wide planks are particularly great as they show off the unique grain detail.
