About Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) Flooring
Ipe, also known as Brazilian walnut, is one of the most durable species you will find, with a Janka hardness rating of 3680. The high Janka hardness rating of Ipe indicates that this type of flooring is perfect for areas that have high levels of foot traffic. However, the extreme durability is not all that Ipe flooring is known for––this wood’s appearance itself is also remarkable. Ipe wood offers a large amount of color variation, with planks ranging in color from a light tan to a deep, brownish black. The color variation and dark hues will lend a sophisticated air to wherever the flooring is installed. This flooring is also unique in that it is one of few species which can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications due to its sheer level of durability.
