About Cumaru Flooring
Cumaru, also known as Brazilian Teak flooring, offers red-brown hues and a significant amount of color variation between the sapwood and the heartwood. The heartwood of Cumaru is a light brown color, while the sapwood is a distinct, yellowish brown. With a Janka hardness rating of 3450, Cumaru flooring can withstand a heavy amount of foot traffic, scratches, and denting. This species features an interlocked graining pattern in the wood. One particularly popular application for Cumaru is to add an accent to the flooring along with a lighter flooring, or as part of a flooring medallion. Different types of finish will bring out different natural qualities of the wood. An oil-based finish will lend the wood a deeper brown appearance, while a water-based finish will maintain the original color of the flooring.
